Programme Details

DAY 1 : COCHIN

Arrival in Cochin. Arrive to the smiling face of the Maavalan representative who will take you for an assisted seamless check-in at the chosen hotel and a brief given to you which puts you at ease as you sink into the comfort of your bed to relax for some time before beginning your Cochin visits.

Visit the small but famous Pardesi Synagogue, the Matanchery Dutch Palace with its beautiful mural paintings and towards the evening walk along the shores of the Arabian sea enjoying the view of the Chinese fishing nets against the backdrop of the setting sun. DAY 2 : COCHIN

Spend some relaxed time at the wonderful hotel or take a walk along the harbour front of the Fort Cochin neighbourhood. In the evening ask for a local cocktail to the expert barman from the lounge of the Brunton Boatyard.

DAY 3 : COCHIN – KUMARAKOM

You will begin your discovery of Kerala driving towards the famed backwaters of the Wembanad Lake. Kumarakom has attained mythical status in beauty, relaxation and ayurveda tours. You will be taken to the jetty where you will leave your car and luggage to get to the next level of discovery which begins by taking the water highway of Kerala. When you arrive at the Coconut Lagoon, you will realise what true relaxed luxury means. Take your time to unwind and go on a discovery spree. The organic swimming pool, yes, you heard it right, the local vegetable garden, the cooking classes, we have got it all prepared for you to pick, choose and play. DAY 4 : KUMARAKOM/ALLEYPEY (HOUSEBOAT)

After your sumptuous breakfast, we will have a rice boat or a houseboat waiting for you. You will start coasting along the numerous canals of the backwaters. You will get to see the lives of the people living along the canals. The luxuriant green vegetation is a treat to watch. As you continue to navigate through the shimmering waters, you will reach one of the biggest lakes of India, Wembanad Lake. At noon you will be served a delicious lunch on board as you continue on your cruise. Take a relaxing nap on one of the deck chairs under the mild warm sun. Later in the afternoon you will be served tea and cookies. When your cruise comes to an end, you will be dropped off at the Coconut Lagoon.

DAY 5 : KUMARAKOM/ALLEYPEY – PERIYAR

Coming to Periyar reserve is an invigorating experience. This is one of the densest biodiversity hotspots in the world with a large variety of flora and bird species that you will find anywhere in the world. You have the option of discovering spice walks, elephant rides through plantations, honing culinary skills with the chef and learning yoga with an accomplished yoga professor. The choices are large and interesting.

DAY 6 : PERIYAR

A day at leisure at a great destination where you have a choice of opting for the kind of activities that suit you: trekking in the forest, trekking with bamboo rafting, bullock cart ride through the villages, relaxation with Ayurvedic massage

DAY 7 : PERIYAR  – MADURAI

Drive away from the Western Ghats and you start discovering the agricultural diversity of Tamil Nadu with banana, Sorghum, table grapes, coconut and other plantations. Tamil Nadu is rich in culture and heritage and we are looking at the soul of Tamil Nadu when we visit Madurai. Madurai Meenakshi Temple is renowned for its magnificence and religious fervour. Make sure to visit this temple in the evening to fully feel the ambience and soak in the atmosphere.

DAY 8 : MADURAI – TANJORE

Tanjore continues where Madurai left. The temple with the highest Gopuram will leave you speechless. When you visit the Brihadeshwara Temple, remember to be blessed by the live elephant god that places its trunk on your forehead to give you the nicest blessings. The Tanjore temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the largest temples anywhere dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple built more than a 1100 years ago will leave you mesmerised.

This is also the city of bronzes. Visit a bronze statue manufacturing unit. Your hotel has some beautiful bronze artefacts.

DAY 9 : TANJORE – TRICHY – TANJORE

Trichy is a truly spiritual visit. The temple at Trichy is a marvel to look at. 17 Gopurams or massive entrances in multicoloured layers of mythical statues adorn the temple all around. Once you get in, you can mix with the locals and visit the beautiful frescoes on the walls. You can get yourself a ticket to go to the rooftop to have a view of the Gopurams all around. It is quite a sight.

You get back in the afternoon to your hotel in Tanjore.

DAY 10 : TANJORE – PONDICHERY

Driving to Pondicherry is one of the richest experiences in terms of history, architecture and heritage. En route you will be visiting the sites of Gangaicondacholapuram, Darasuram and Chidambaram two of which are UNESCO world heritage sites. You will be at the heart of 800 – 1100 year old Dravidian architecture and pre-medieval South Indian culture that is depicted on the intricate carvings of these temples. These are living temples and have great archaeological and historical value.

When you arrive in Pondicherry, you will be transported to another era altogether. It is a quaint little French town reminiscent of the Mediterranean. Colonnades, rounded arches, beachfront promenades, pedestrian zones and streets named in French are some of the aspects that contribute to the ambience.

DAY 11 : PONDICHERRY – MAHABALIPURAM

Your drive along the eastern coast to Mahabalipuram is quite beautiful. At Mahabalipuram, the multiple visits of the Shore Temples, Arjuna’s penance, the Five Rathas and other sites belonging to the massive archaeological site are breathtaking. Legend has it that part of the sites are under water. But that is another story for another day for underwater explorations.

DAY 12 : MAHABALIPURAM – MADRAS

You will spend your day at leisure as you wish. Discover Mahabalipuram and its sites at your will. Spend time on the spanking clean and deserted beach.

DAY 13 : MADRAS – PORT BLAIR

Early in the morning you will be leaving for the Madras airport to take the flight to the Andaman Islands. After arriving at Port Blair in the Andaman Islands, you will be taking the ferry to Havelock Island. The journey is beautiful. You will cross the deep blue waters of the Indian Ocean. Arrival at Havelock, you will be taken to your residence at the Barefoot Resort. Your resort is right next to one of the world’s best beaches. For the next few days, you will have ample time to get truly familiar with all the beaches of the island. They all have a different character.

DAY 14 : HAVELOCK – PORT BLAIR

At the end of your stay, you take the jetty back to Port Blair. Stay overnight at the hotel that has arguably the BEST VIEW in all of Port Blair.
Stay a day a visit some of the interesting places notable the Cellular Jail used to incarcerate political prisoners by the British and the beach of Corbyn’s Cove.

DAY 15 : PORT BLAIR – MADRAS

In the morning you will be taken to the airport to board your flight to Madras from you will be taking your international flight.
